Squeezing in some creative time in daily routine!

It is a beautiful sunny Sunday, sacred time in my books, not because it's Sunday but because it's the only day we are all together as a family. But today I had to steal an hour to catch up on some painting and it got me thinking about how difficult it can be to squeeze in creative time with a young family, a part time job and the other excuses that creep in now and again, and again, and again!

I am lucky that the 3 days I spend working outside the home are filled with manual and somewhat creative work, with constant new projects to keep me motivated. Those days, once the children are in bed and asleep, I normally don't have the energy left to retire to the studio to face a couple of hours painting, so I retire to the sofa with my sketchbook at my side, sometimes not even opening it, sometimes filling a few pages of just about anything.
A confession, I am not good from 8 pm onward, 7h30 is for a walk, pilates or other such activities, and then what is the most tempting is my sofa and blanket. It has to be fought bravely, and some days I am victorious, others, I succumb to temptation!
I have tried bringing the eldest (3) in the studio while the youngest is having a snooze, but that only ever resulted in an interrupted half hour. I get two hours on Fridays, when I finish work early, and I count the days to the next bank holiday which I can claim as mine in it's entirety!
But days are getting longer, evenings brighter and I have to give up Coronation street ;)

There is only one conclusion, if you really want to, you can do it, no more excuses!
