Some might say it's a bad start to the new year resolutions...

As it has been nearly three weeks since my last post, and that my first resolution was to write weekly on the blog... I can see the argument. But, not to make excuses, but my computer was away getting a good TLC, and I received a very precious visit all the way from Québec, Canada, it would have been rude to abandon them on "business" grounds.


But here we are, and after thorough research, I will be soon able to order materials for my first prototypes. In the pipelines are  hand-painted wooden keepsake boxes, albums and children memory games.


I will document the process and share it as I go along.

New Year resolutions... the list is extensive!

Big leap over Christmas festivities and we're already a week into 2014. No word of a lie, it was the morning of January 2nd that I first set foot back into the studio, that's enthusiasm for you! I've got my thinking cap on at the moment, and it's more pen than brushes cause plans have to be made for the year ahead. So I'm coming up with a somewhat modest new-year's resolution list, forget the losing 10lbs, the quitting smoking (I don't smoke anyway, that would be an easy one!) and the putting aside the red wine (as if!)... so here it goes:

*Write weekly on this Blog :)

*Update website

*New series of 10 paintings for limited prints

*Get limited prints in 3 shops

*Find better value printing services

*Develop 3 craft products and try to find Irish supplies

*Get craft products in 3 shops

*Participate to at least 1 summer fair

*Participate to at least 3 xmas fairs

*Set up business Facebook page and maybe one competition

*Set up an Etsy shop

*Take a course maybe in woodcraft or something like that!

 

 

Well, that should keep me busy! What are your resolutions? add them up in the comments... don't worry I wouldn't hold you up to them!!

More strings to my bow...

Just as the Christmas production finished and the few markets I decided to try out came to an end, a phone call came followed by a job offer for restoring old furniture. Needless to say I jumped at the opportunity and I have now already learned an amazing lot on furniture upholstering and even made my very own footstool (photos to follow shortly), I am very excited that only 3 days in I have gain so much knowledge and will now hopefully get the experience by practising every week!
And my brain is bubbling with ideas for the year to come...

After Newmarket...

Well, it`s nearly sold out for the ornaments, no painting sold unfortunately but the whole weekend was very quiet. I am taking a break now until January and will be back with a full list of new-year`s resolution :)
I have a lot of ideas in the pipeline... A suivre!!

First day at the Newmarket fair

By all accounts, the day was very quiet and other exhibiters were adamant that Sunday is always the busiest day, but that this was one of the quietest Saturdays they had experienced... hopefully, tomorrow will be completely mad! Despite everything, I had a relatively good day and I wished now I had made more stuff...
Next update: tomorrow, and it will hopefully be "sold out"! :)

Newmarket Arts & Craft fair THIS WEEKEND!!!

Don't forget this weekend is the Newmarket Arts & Crafts Fair, Saturday & Sunday 12 to 6 pm, at the James O'Keeffe's institute!!! Loads of great gift ideas, come and say Hi! :)

After the Wine and Art...

Well, there was a lot of disappointed faces when 11pm came, the guests because the free booze was coming to an end ;) , and the artists because, well there was very few sales on the night. For my part I was rather happy with this PR experience, even if there was no sales, it was very satisfying to have the opportunity to put my work out there and have loads of chat with interesting people.
There were raffles, auctions of different goodies and art pieces, and I believe quite a bit of money has been raised for charity, which is the important thing!

Bien, il y avait plusieurs visages plutôt déçus quand le coup de 23h a finalement retenti, ceux des invites parce que ça annonçait la fin du flot de vin gratuit don't ils avaient profité toute la soirée, et ceux des artistes parce que, bien, il y eu très peu de ventes. Pour ma part, j'étais quand meme contente de cette experience, meme si je n'ai rien vendu, c'était très satisfaisant d'avoir l'opportunité de montrer mon travail et avoir toutes ces conversations avec des gens très intéressants.
Il y eu des tirages, des ventes aux enchères de différentes gâteries et oeuvres d'art, et je crois qu'un bon montant a été amassé pour les oeuvres de charité, c'est ce qui comptait vraiment!

Now, I can't live on great times and conversation, so lets just hope next weekend will be more financially viable :)
